CSHP Seminar 2015 has come to pass, but it did not depart without leaving an everlasting impression on our fellow pharmacy professionals. It was a great time to connect and reconnect, learn, and participate in the expansion of our pharmacy profession. Just hear what some of our chapter members had to say:

“CSHP Seminar in San Diego was quite a memorable experience. This year’s theme “Educate. Innovate. Elevate” captured the critical movement of our pharmacy profession towards advancement of practice. With new legislation and laws in California to promote pharmacists as providers, the sky’s the limit into where pharmacists can positively change healthcare and improve patient medication outcomes. It was great to network with pharmacists from across the state, catch up with friends, attend CEs, and importantly promote our profession together in this meeting. I am definitely looking forward to Seminar in Anaheim!”

“Set in the backdrop of the southern California coastline, America’s Finest City welcomed over a thousand pharmacists and future pharmacists to meet and discuss the future of health-system pharmacy. The hustle-and-bustle of Seminar was in contrast to the serene and relaxing host city as this year had something to offer, both to the newly acquainted and to even the most-seasoned Seminar veterans.

For students, the main attraction was, as always, the Residency Showcase. Almost one hundred residency sites attracted hundreds more to strut their professional stuff in the hopes of attaining their dream residency, or just to have their name land on the ears of sore-footed directors.

This year’s theme was “Educate. Innovate. Elevate.” No other place was this theme more noticeable than in the many rows of posters presented by students and pharmacists alike. The poster presenters were eager to share their data and insight into their research as they entertained questions from onlookers. Seminar is an amazing place to meet new people, see new faces, and make lasting connections. All this was dropped however, in the heat of battle at the annual student Quiz Bowl. The crème-of-the-crop of nine schools strutted their clinical prowess in the team Jeopardy competition. After the dust settled, California Northstate University emerged victorious to the cheers of the crowd and with bragging rights for a year.

Following the quiz bowl in the awards ceremony, CSHP acknowledged many individuals, student chapters, and local associations for their hard work throughout the year. OCSHP’s very own Dr. Patrick Chan was awarded the distinguished CSHP Fellowship for his involvement and contributions to CSHP and to the profession of pharmacy. The new president, Kenneth So, was also formally sworn in and was ready to tackle the challenges ahead. The House of Delegates the morning after saw pharmacists and student debate and wrap their heads around new policies that further shape the future of CSHP.

The excitement and energy of Seminar is hard to sum up in such a short summary. As a student pharmacist, I only saw a small glimpse of all that was offered. But what I did see was a tremendous opportunity to be more engaged in the future of pharmacy; whether it be residency, research, or policy. The sun has set on CSHP Seminar 2015 and I look forward to next year in Anaheim to gladly experience it all again.”
